Atlas Health

From a health question to a feasible real-world project

Atlas Health develops real-world health projects by connecting a clearly defined challenge with the right populations, territories, expertise and delivery capabilities.

We help organisations determine what is worth investigating, where the work could take place, who needs to be involved and what would be required to deliver it.

What Atlas brings together

A promising idea needs an executable design.

Atlas combines project architecture, stakeholder engagement and partner coordination with the scientific, clinical, data and technology expertise required for each challenge.

Our approach is grounded in territorial learning: connecting health services, communities and local capabilities, defining meaningful outcomes and building evaluation into the work from the beginning.

Specialist contributions are assembled around the project. Data access and use remain subject to agreements with the relevant institutions and data custodians.

Three steps from question to action

Exploring a health question
01

Explore

Establish feasibility

Determine whether a health challenge can become a viable real-world project.

An Explore study defines the question, target population and intended outcomes; assesses potential settings, partners and data requirements; identifies governance and delivery conditions; and develops a costed route to implementation.

Output: a Project Blueprint supporting a decision on whether and how to proceed.

A focused Explore study is typically designed for four to six weeks, depending on scope and access to the necessary contributors.

Activating partners and territories
02

Activate

Organise delivery

Turn an agreed blueprint into a resourced and coordinated project.

This includes agreeing partner responsibilities, delivery milestones, governance arrangements and an evaluation plan.

Output: an implementation programme with defined responsibilities, budget and outcomes.

Scaling across populations
03

Scale

Assess transferability

Where evidence and demand justify it, adapt the approach to other populations or territories.

Output: a replication plan that identifies what can be transferred, what needs local adaptation and how results will be compared.

Each stage has its own agreed scope and budget.

Atlas Health and Real Data, Better AI

Real Data, Better AI is a movement convened by Health Data Forum. It supports dialogue, shared knowledge and collaboration.

Atlas Health provides a route for developing specific challenges into structured projects.

Founding Enabling Partners support the movement's agreed programme. Their partnership may also include an Atlas Explore study, where this is explicitly defined in the partnership agreement.

In that arrangement, Health Data Forum receives the partnership contribution and commissions the agreed Explore work. The study connects the partner's priorities with a relevant health or data challenge and a practical route to action.

How project work is arranged

Atlas Health is the project-development proposition. The legal organisation responsible for delivery is identified in each agreement.

Delivery may be contracted through col.lab Ltd, a commercial organisation, with specialist partners engaged according to the project's needs.

The commissioning organisation, scope, budget, deliverables, ownership and reporting arrangements are agreed before work begins. Implementation beyond Explore requires a further agreement.

Start with the decision you need to make

Tell us:

  • The health or data challenge you want to investigate.
  • The population, territory or setting of interest.
  • The decision the study should help you make.
  • Your timeframe and the people who should be involved.

You can approach us as an organisation commissioning a project, an enabling partner supporting an agreed programme, or a specialist offering delivery capabilities.
